THE STORY FAMILIES OF KIRKLINTON.
Accompanying the Will is "A Cattalog of my debts being by me owing to several
persons at the time of making my last Will.
WILL OF JOHN STORY OF BEWCASTLE MADE 20TH DECEMBER 1713. IN YE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I John Story of Bewcastle in ye county of Cumberland, yeoman, being sick in body but of good and perfect memory, thanks be to Almighty God - and calling to remembrance the uncertain estate of this mortall life and that all flesh must yield unto Death when it shall please God to call - do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst being penitent and sorry for all my sins most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same. I commend my soule unto Almighty God, my Saviour and Redeemer and by whose merits I trust and believe assuredly to be saved, and so to have full remission and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit ye Kingdom of Heaven And my body I commit to ye earth to be decently buryed at the discretion of my executors hereafter named. And for ye settling of my temporal estate as what it has pleased Almighty God to bestow on me I do order and dispose of ye same in manner and form following. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca Story all my houshold goods, pewter, brass, plate, firevessel, tables, chares, cubboards, bedsteads and bedding together with all wooden vessels belonging to ye house except one bedstead with bedding and all such furniture as shall be convenient for one bed which I leave to my son Adam Story. And I also leave to my daughter Rebecca 10l to be paid by my executors within eighteen months after my decease. Item. I leave to my son Arthur Story five pounds to be paid accordingly. Item I leave to my son, Leonard Story, ye sum of tenn pounds to be paid accordingly. Item I leave to my daughter Elizabeth one black Quye (Kye) now wintered in ye foot of ye demain. I leave to my sone John Story one *bound-wane ye newer of ye two now in my possessione And for all ye rest of my goods and chattels and debts, I leave and bequeath to my son Adam Story for to pay my debts and legacies and funerall expenses And hereby 1 appoint him to be my sole executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Will formerly made by me and I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have here under set my hand and seal ye day and year above written WITNESSES-
MEMORANDUM yt before ye signing hereof I do declare ye design of my leaveing my son Leonard Story his legacy is upon ye account yt he keep my executor indemnified of a bond of fourty pounds which I stand bound in for him to Mr. Charles Smithson. WITNESSES. CLEMENT ARMSTRONG 144
