In the Furness Deanery there are no wills or administrations of Storey family found from 1583 to 1712. The Court Roll for the Barony of Kendal contains several references to the ancestors of Sir Thomas Storey, Kt., J.P., D.L. The following extracts are taken from the Admissions of Tenants, Fines, Amerciaments and Lists of Jurors of the various Manors :-
As to the controversy late depending between Henry Story Plaintiff and Robert Jacson Defendant, wee finde that the plaintiff has right to a way through a field of the defendant's call'd Banke to a close call'd Gill Michaell; that the plaintiff shall therefore enjoy it according to custom. 1689. Wee present Henry Story for a bye-fire. 1690. We finde Henry Story tennant of a messuage or tenement of certain closes in New Hutton by Deed from James Mitchell of ye yearly rent of 10l 1s 7d. In the same year, and also in 1693, 1694, 1696 and 1697, Henry Story is fined the sum of 6d. for having by-fires. Among the names of the jurors sworn to inquire at the Moot Hall, Kendall, in the Manerii de Richmonde and Marquis ffee infray, Barony de Kendall in com. Westmoreland, is Ricus Story, Septem, die Aprilis, 1695.
