Thus it appears that there were only two male descendants of Thomas Story living in 1897, viz., Dr. John Benjamin Story, of St. Marie's Hospital, and his brother, William George Theaker.

The marriage articles or settlements of Bishop Story with Sophia Grattan, written in the Bishop's handwriting, were found by Dr. Story some years ago in a box made to imitate a book, and labelled "Acts of Parliament." This box contains a number of interesting family records, among other things the household accounts of the bishop when at Kilmore. He was consecrated Bishop of Killaloe in 1740, and of Kilmore in 1742, and was Bishop of the latter until 1756, when he died, the cause of death being aneurism of the heart.

Joseph (brother of Thomas Story), Bishop of Killaloe, and afterwards of Kilmore, married first, one Deborah Richardson, and had issue, Elizabeth.

Catherine, married Mr. Irvine, of Rockfield, or Castle Irvine, Co. Fermanagh.

He married secondly, Sophia, widow of Dr. Grattan, Speaker of the Irish House of Commons, and daughter of Sir William Gore, who either was himself Speaker or his son Ralph was.

An old copy of Burke (1863) states that the Bishop's second wife was Hannah, daughter of Sir William Gore and sister to Sir Ralph Gore, Speaker to the Irish House of Commons.

The issue of Bishop Storey's second marriage was Joseph, Archdeacon of Kilmore. He built Bingfield, County Cavan, and married *Arabella Sneyd, daughter of Archdeacon Sneyd, of Lisnamandia, adjoining Bingfield. Issue six sons and eight daughters, viz.:-

*Burke says "Frances Arabella."
