Extracts from the Marriage Register of the Parish Church of St. John, Lee, near Hexham, in Northumberland:-

1684, 16th June, Maria Dickinson to John Story, of Wall.
1694, 20th June, Margery Smith to John Story, of Wall.

The above were found by Lieut-Col. R. W. Story, R.A. (late 60th Rifles), and his brother, James Hamilton Story, after a hurried examination on the 5th September, 1833. Lt-Col. Robert Story was at St. John, Lee, on April 7th, 1895, and, after much investigation, could find out nothing more than is already known of the family history.

Bingfield Hall, near Hexham, is now a farmhouse in ruins; the remains of the old building exist in the ground. Colonel Robert Story could find no trace of it in 1895, and the name of the family was unknown to the inhabitants. The Bingfield hall, in Cavan, was built by Joseph Story, Archdeacon of Kilmore, about the year 1745.
